What Is A Megamix?
TLDR, it's a remix of multiple tracks at once, but not like a mashup
Essentially, a remix in the modern sense can range anywhere from a clearly recognizable genre conversion, to a nearly new piece that takes elements of the original and twists them to fit into the larger fresh puzzle
in my imagining of megamixes, this is taken to the extreme. whole albums are combed through to find little snippets of unexplored possibility, which then are amplified and bolstered to grow into new flowering musical works on their own.
this isn't to be confused with a mashup, which is characterized by mostly being structured by its samples, nor a work which simply samples a lot. a megamix celebrates its seeds but is not wholly defined by them.
